  London is one of the oldest cities in the world, with a history that spans over 1000s of years. We will explore how London was founded, and share some key events from its past. From William Shakespeare to Queen Elizabeth II, there are many people who have left their mark on this city-state's rich history! It is said that the first mention of London in written records dates back to 43AD, when it was first recorded as a trading post. Around this time, people were starting to build settlements on top of former Roman buildings from two centuries earlier! Over the following centuries, London grew into an important economic and military capital city for England - with new roads being built all around the country. It wasn't until 1666 AD that we saw one of London's most famous fires which would forever change the face of this great metropolis.
